Responsibilities

Server assistants must move quickly and efficiently, and maintain constant communication with the server on the status of each table.

Assist the server by ensuring that every guest’s needs and special requests are met.

Be the backbone of the service team, ensuring the basics of service are met—from water service to resetting the table.

Practice table maintenance with guidance from the server throughout the dining experience in the most unobtrusive manner.

Rely on body language, facial expressions, eye contact, and non-verbal cues to determine the level of guest satisfaction.

Assist neighboring teammates with service and ensure that tables are reset within two minutes of guests’ departure.

Bus each course according to Restaurant Service Standards Reference and complete tasks as directed by management to support the team and restaurant.

Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills

Ability to maintain tact and stay calm under pressure

Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility

Knowledge of and compliance with department policies, service procedures, and standards

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly through service

Knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment

Knowledge of all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately

Strong interpersonal skills to provide exemplary guest service

Professional appearance and demeanor

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken

Work Conditions

The work environment is usually loud

Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell

Required to walk frequently

Preferred

At least 2 years’ experience in a high-volume, upscale dining environment

At least 1 year of hospitality sales and management experience

High school diploma or equivalent
