Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a Safety Manager for an imbedded Maintenance site. The company provides capital projects, power services, maintenance, disaster recovery, hydro consulting and commercial construction. Thompson emphasizes investing in employees, learning, leadership and development, and a safety culture across its offices in the United States. Location: West Columbia, SC. Responsibilities

Observe job performance and identify site hazards to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.) and provide direction for immediate actions if out of compliance. Identify conditions which could cause accidents and communicate findings to operations management and peer Safety Managers to share information across areas. Conduct post-accident investigations and make recommendations to prevent recurrence. Assist operations management with accident documentation. Communicate with injured employees and accompany them to initial and follow-up medical treatment to ensure care and proper understanding of light duty policy. Plan, implement and coordinate programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and financial losses. Assist in development of Corporate and Division Standard Operating Procedures, policies and procedures for safety. Maintain data for safety statistics (first aids, recordables); graph and trend by type and area; enter data into audit system and review data for trends. Conduct safety trainings, including new employee orientation, as required. Visit each established work site at least weekly (goal: 25 sites per month) to conduct audits and identify hazards or unsafe behaviors. Visually inspect Thompson vehicles/equipment for damage and road worthiness. Assist in pre-job/shutdown planning with the Project Manager where possible. Build relationships with working crews, address concerns and identify improvement opportunities. Visit customer contacts and medical facilities to maintain strong, professional relationships. Attend customer-sponsored or mandated safety meetings. Counsel/coach employees on policy infractions and inform supervision for additional counseling or disciplinary actions. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of field experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must have completed OSHA 30; OSHA 500 is preferred. Some sites may require MSHA and HAZWOPER certification. Strong written and verbal communication; ability to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor and co-workers. Basic math skills. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand, reach, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments; work at heights up to 200 feet. Some sites may require respirator use. Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements. Benefits
