Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a highly motivated Account Technician I. The ideal candidate would be self‑motivated, task‑oriented, and an organized individual with attention to detail. Essential Functions
Maintains facility’s employee time and attendance records, including contractual employees.
Prepares and audits complex financial documents.
Provides support to Business Office Accounting Staff in the performance of their duties to ensure continuity of operations.
Prepares Payroll Time Report and submits to Payroll Technician.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirement for this class.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefers at least one (1) year of data entry experience.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience following and implementing policies and procedures.
Prefers at least six (6) months of experience working with Microsoft Excel, or similar computer software program.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience fact gathering, identifying discrepancies, and resolving discrepancies found in documentation.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience compiling information from various sources to be summarized and submitted.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in adhering to contractual agreements, rules, and/or guidelines.
Prefers at least six (6) months of experience working with confidential information.
Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working in an office setting.
Conditions of Employment
Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
