About You You lead all aspects of production distribution logistics, including third-party logistics (3PL) services that supply dealers directly. You oversee operations, facilities, and strategic projects, ensuring seamless execution across B2B and B2C channels. You are accountable for the performance and outcomes of both production warehousing and 3PL warehouses. With deep functional knowledge and business expertise, you drive results through leadership, problem-solving, and a strong focus on business impact.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Accountable for the performance and results of Production Distribution Logistics through direct and indirect reports. Develops functional area and department plans including goods that are shipped to domestic customers in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. Oversees goal setting for organizational priorities including leading and lagging measures to ensure transparency and success. Creates and implements new and alternative strategies and networks for distribution of products from all production companies.
Participates in negotiations of freight management including parcel, LTL and truckload freight and carrier contracts, tracks performance of carriers and ensures carrier rebates are processed. Manages national and regional parcel contracts including contract negotiations and carrier performance.
Requires a comprehensive understanding of distribution logistics internal operations and industry standards to develop continuous improvement opportunities and drive service, financial and operational performance.
Directs the resolution of high complex distribution logistics and service problems applying advance analytical thoughts and judgment. Facilitate changes based on customer and business requirements and requests.
Formalizes logistics policies and procedures across the STIHL network. Standardizes warehouse productivity measurements, reporting, and training. Establishes annual and monthly goals for warehouse engagement programs; monitors and publishes results.
Plans for new warehouse facilities, equipment, and systems, including evaluation of real estate and new technologies. Responsibilities include long term strategic planning and budgeting, site selection for new facilities, creating site plans and building plans/layouts, architect/contractor evaluation and selection, meeting with government officials to solicit local and state approvals and permits, budget creation and management, and supervision of construction and costs.
Provides strategic direction in the development of processes and methods to ensure Internal Control Systems to effectively audit performance of all department functions (domestic FG, Export FG, Spare Parts FG, Spare Parts conversions, FG conversions, Kitting conversions and 3PL providers).
Ensures order fulfillment activities are ongoing and resources assigned to appropriately meet demand.
Influences others internally and externally to ensure all relevant processes including production support, IT systems, compliance regulations are achieved while maximizing service and distribution logistics goals.
Development of a leadership team for all production distribution logistics operations including hiring, training, supervision and mentoring. This includes both task and career objectives
Specifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
10+ years of progressively responsible experience, including 5+ years of team/department management.
Manages a large team which would typically consist of both experienced professionals and managers.
Focus on tactical and operational plans with short-to-mid-term focus (e.g., 1-2 years). Problems faced are difficult to moderately complex.
Influences others outside of their own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
