Senior Director of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) – Operations Support
As the
Senior Director of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) – Operations Support , you will lead the development and execution of comprehensive HSE strategies, programs, and systems that promote workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship across Sodexo’s North American operations. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for corporate HSE governance, ISO 45001 program management, and driving a culture of safety through Sodexo’s global Zero Harm Mindset. You will provide strategic direction to a team of HSE professionals supporting all business segments and transversal functions in the U.S. and Canada.
This is a
Remote role
with 20% travel with the preferred candidate able to work Eastern Standard Time Zone hours
What You'll Do
Strategy & Program Development:
Design and implement HSE strategies aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
Lead and develop a high-performing HSE team; collaborate with segment safety staff and champions across North America.
Audits & Inspections:
Oversee ISO 45001 program management, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; manage incident investigations and risk assessments.
Training & Culture Building:
Develop and deliver impactful HSE training programs; foster a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

What You Bring
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related sciences (Advanced degree preferred)
15+ years of experience in occupational health & safety, risk control, or related field
10+ years of management experience
Certifications & Technical Skills:
OSHA 30 Hour General Industry certification
Professional Safety Certifications (ASP, STS, CSP, CSE) preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft 365, SmartSheet, PowerBI, and HSE software/reporting tools
Core Competencies:
Deep expertise in HSE regulations, standards, and best practices
Strategic thinker with a track record of successful program execution
Strong leadership and organizational development capabilities
Skilled in Lean Six Sigma and root cause analysis
Exceptional communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels
