Cost Engineer

Overview Are you driven by data and can turn numbers into actionable insights? As a Cost Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring, analyzing and forecasting the financial outcomes of one or more construction projects within a district.
Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to provide insights and recommendations that enhance financial performance and efficiency.
The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Flatiron, Dragados USA and VINCI has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project – the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45' diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America.

What you will be doing
Perform cost analysis and spend tracking to monitor project costs and revenue and forecast final financial outcomes.
Assist or perform generation of project budget and monthly forecasting within Company supported cost control software.
Use Company determined process and practices to document, track and report cost on assigned projects. Works with project management team and project controls team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
Support integration of Company systems to track, monitor and control costs; monitors the job cost report against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Assist project close out procedures by validating final revenue prior to final bill submission.
Audit accounting systems between Company and Owner systems to ensure accuracy.
Support financial audit process on assigned projects.
Generate, analyze and submit monthly reporting.
What we are looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
8+ years construction cost control or project engineering required.
Experience in cost forecasting and construction finance required.
Advanced knowledge in construction cost control and project accounting practices.
Able to lead and mentor peers while liaise between other Project Controls disciplines.
Complete comprehension of monthly project level financial reports with ability to analyze and report on general financial metrics (Over/underbillings, collections etc.).
Developing comprehension of monthly division level financial reports (SIE/SPE).
Able to manage full risk and opportunity process with ability to manage risk mitigation plans.
Mastered forecasting practices and production analysis with ability to connect cost variances to root causes and help identify potential paths of recovery.
Knowledge of construction contract agreements and change order processes preferred.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of accounting principles, including construction accounting, preferred.
Able to identify cost reduction strategies in schedule, quantities or contract specifications that align with project budget and design specification requirements.
Ability to conduct in-person and online project controls training to district personnel.
