Assistant Director of College Housing (SL-3) Salary:
$65,000 Binghamton University Residential Life is a fast-paced, innovative, and highly collaborative environment. The department has launched an updated staffing model to better deliver services and experiences to the residential student population and to support department-wide changes. This role requires professional maturity to adapt and support ongoing changes while contributing to a high-quality student living-learning experience for approximately 7,600+ residents across six residential colleges. Responsibilities
Provides departmental direction through a department-wide committee/functional area and may serve as a Residential Life representative on University committees
Leads and serves as a role model for their community, engaging with students and supporting area traditions
Promotes an inclusive community through role modeling, respect, and regular interaction with residents, student staff, and live-in professional staff during evenings and weekends
Directs and supports hall and area government advisors; collaborates to create a sense of belonging for students
Works with the area Collegiate Professor to enhance living-learning opportunities and implements the residential curriculum
Oversees operations and facilities needs for one or two residential areas (each typically 1,000–1,600 beds) and serves as on-site manager of area offices and administrative workflows
Develops and manages area budgets and financial resources
Provides student support during elevated interpersonal issues and coordinates crisis response for the area
Trains, supervises, and evaluates staff (including 16–62 student staff, and professional staff) across assigned areas
Qualifications
Master's Degree
At least two years of residential life experience
Minimum of three years of progressive supervision experience
Excellent organizational, administrative, and communication skills
Professional leadership and decision-making abilities
Preferred
Experience supervising full-time Resident Directors (or similar)
Experience supervising professional or graduate staff
Experience implementing new initiatives
