Senior Project Scheduler / Planner at Hitachi Rail. Hybrid role based in New York, NY. Overview
The Senior Project Scheduler / Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing complex project schedules supporting infrastructure and transit projects in New York City. The candidate will provide scheduling expertise, support project planning and execution, and ensure schedule integrity through the use of Primavera P6 and other scheduling tools. Experience with local projects and familiarity with scheduling requirements and reporting standards is required. Key Accountabilities
Independently create, update and monitor project schedules in Primavera P6 in accordance with customer standards and templates. Coordinate with local project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance in execution and reporting; work with the Core Team to generate and validate monthly and quarterly updates of EAC and labor demand. Provide reports/metrics including Critical Path, Earned Value, EAC variance, critical milestones movement, KPIs, and labor forecasts. Conduct scheduling risk analysis, identify trends, risks, and issues, and work with the Core Team to develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays. Support critical bids requiring a full schedule, including reading tender documents, assessing contractual requirements, compliance and risks, creating a schedule narrative, estimating level of effort, and leading schedule creation for bid submission. Manage progress against the Baseline schedule and changes to protect contractual deliverables by monitoring schedule performance using EVM and other metrics. Interpret S-Curve outputs, provide meaningful commentary, and communicate results to the Core Team; generate S-Curves from scratch. Engage with customers and suppliers, negotiating with schedulers as needed to align commercial and technical objectives. Input schedule implications of project changes and ensure changes are incorporated through change orders. Participate in risk and opportunity reviews, calculate schedule impacts, and manage mitigation/action items. Foster cooperation and buy-in within the project team and with Heads of Disciplines; work effectively in a global, geographically dispersed environment. Generate clear, comprehensive reporting to management and customers as required by process or contract. Support the Core Team with rationale for claims and variation orders during project execution; provide guidance to other project schedulers/planners as needed. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field. Minimum 7 years of scheduling experience in complex technology projects, with at least 3 years supporting New York projects. Expert in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project; working knowledge of schedule integration and cost/resource loading; knowledge of TILOS and Primavera Risk Analysis is a plus. Advanced/Expert skills in Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM), project controls, and construction sequencing. Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal oversight. Able to plan and manage project schedules with 1,500+ activities. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of TILOS and Primavera Risk Analysis is advantageous. Experience with bid planning on transit projects provides useful insights. Compensation and Benefits
Estimated Salary Range: USD $121,000 – $152,000 / year.
