Project Overview iParametrics is seeking an

Electrical Senior Designer

to support a major federal nuclear power program. This role provides technical knowledge and hands-on design support across multiple phases of an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) environment. The position involves producing and checking complex designs, coordinating with cross-discipline teams, and ensuring work is delivered in compliance with scope, cost, schedule, and quality baselines.

Responsibilities

Prepare and check designs of intermediate complexity using 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools

Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients

Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations

Provide technical support for equipment/material procurement, subcontracting, and vendor submittal review

Provide technical support during construction, including RFIs, field changes, and walkdowns

Ensure all work is executed per the approved project scope, cost, schedule, and quality requirements

Originate, modify, and review drawings; direct junior drafters as needed

Perform advanced and intermediate design calculations (lighting, raceway/wire sizing, voltage drop, cable pulling, panel board/breaker sizing, junction box sizing)

Perform electrical material take-offs and provide field assistance

Must Have Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in a related technical field

Experience: Minimum 10 years of related work experience in electrical, I&C, or communications design/drafting

Software Knowledge: Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and Intergraph Smart3D (S3D)

Skill: Ability to originate and produce drawings with minimal supervision

Skill: Ability to interpret field direction, create and modify drawings, and support field walkdowns

Knowledge: Applicable federal (including DOE orders), state, and local codes and standards

Knowledge: Discipline codes and standards with ability to perform design work in compliance with statutes and guidelines

Skill: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Skill: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with management, vendors, and clients

Skill: Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials

Experience with ASME NQA-1 nuclear facility design requirements

Practical field experience in construction or EPC environments

EPC project experience in DOE, federal government agencies, or nuclear facilities under a QA program

Industry experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology projects

Advanced knowledge of: 2D CAD and 3D CAD systems, Intergraph SmartPlant Electrical software, Intergraph SmartPlant Review software

Electrical design requirements (grounding, lighting, wiring, motors, conduit sizing, panel boards, hazardous locations)
