Overview
Pima County Recreation Division is seeking a motivated individual to join our team at Drexel Heights Community Center in providing exceptional programs and activities to customers of all ages. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a passion for recreation. The Recreation Center Supervisor I coordinates recreation activities and staff at a small recreation facility offering multiple recreational programs, sports, events and classes.

Manages, develops, supervises, plans, directs, coordinates and schedules all activities at a small recreation facility including programs and events
Supervises, schedules, trains and evaluates recreation staff, volunteers and youth interns
Handles public inquiries, provides information to the public, resolves customer and participant issues, and implements corrective actions or procedures
Utilizes computer skills for registration systems, creating reports, promotional materials, maintaining records and communication
Manages the acquisition, storage, inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment to support recreation programs and activities
Maintains county property, equipment, electronics and various items in a recreation facility
Communicates effectively in a timely manner, both orally and in writing
May be required to obtain and maintain a National Fitness Certification
Collects money, prepares and makes bank deposits or processes payments utilizing registration software
Minimum Qualifications Two years of recreation-related experience INCLUDING six months of experience in a directly related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.) Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Preferred Qualifications
Minimum two (2) years experience working with a variety of populations in a recreational, educational, or childcare setting
Minimum two (2) years experience supervising staff
Minimum one (1) year experience with Microsoft Office Suite; such as Outlook, Excel, Word and/or other recreation registration software programs
Minimum three (3) months experience providing fitness, nutrition or wellness programming or certification from a national fitness association
Selection Procedure Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidates from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
