Overview
Mechanical Design Lead Engineer – ADAS Sensing Join *** Motors’ mission to accelerate sustainable energy adoption through cutting-edge electric vehicles. As a Mechanical Lead Design Engineer within the ADAS Sensing team, you’ll drive the design and development of innovative sensor mounting systems that deliver precision, durability, and performance. This role requires an experienced mechanical design professional with a strong background in automotive ADAS/AD systems, capable of independently managing complex design challenges and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Design
robust module mounts
for accurate, repeatable positioning of exterior and interior ADAS sensors. Develop
kinematic mechanisms
and
shock/vibration stabilization structures
for enhanced reliability. Perform detailed
tolerance stack-up analyses
at component and system levels to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability. Lead
optical performance simulations (SPEOS)
to validate sensor performance under various conditions. Oversee
thermal and structural simulations (ANSYS)
to ensure design integrity and stability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including design studio, simulation, and supplier partners — to optimize packaging, serviceability, and integration. Engage with
Tier-1 suppliers
for mechanical system implementation and validation. Qualifications
5+ years
of mechanical design experience (automotive preferred). Expertise in
CATIA 3D CAD
and
ASME GD&T standards . Strong understanding of
tolerance analysis ,
2D detailed drawings , and
injection molding/plastics . Experience with
CAE tools
(e.g., ANSYS) and
thermal, shock, and vibration testing . Knowledge of
rapid prototyping techniques
and
vehicle electrical/harness integration . Proven ability to deliver
creative mechanical solutions
within tight spatial and functional constraints.
