Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an opportunity for a Principal Systems SW Analyst – Systems Analyst (25-407) to join our team. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not offer relocation help and requires on-site work without remote options.
Position Overview
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and manage networked sensors and weapon systems. C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability and functions as a force multiplier by connecting and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and locally. It is a critical component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the system’s current and future capabilities.
This position is for a Systems Analyst on the C2BMC program. The candidate will collaborate with the C2BMC RA Fellow, the RA Analysts team, software development teams, and handle other tasks assigned by Regional Applications leadership.
Essential Functions
Responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting root causes, and providing technical support for systems software products, including problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user assistance
Collaborate with other product teams to resolve issues, set up simulation scenarios to trigger behaviors, and improve overall system efficiency
Switch quickly between high-priority tasks
Understand highly complex algorithms related to missile defense command and control, IR sensors, and radar concepts
Experience in Agile Scrum Settings
Communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings to all audiences, including technical subject matter experts and senior leaders
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience); 5 years with Bachelor’s, or 3 years with Master’s; 9 years of relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application (required to start)
Willingness and ability to travel between C2BMC Development Sites in Colorado Springs, CO, and Huntsville, AL, and the C2BMC Test Bed (CTB) at Schriever Space Force Base
Understanding of systems and software engineering processes, principles, and lifecycles
Experience performing data analysis on complex algorithms for performance, behavior, and functionality, and presenting results to software engineers, product owners, senior program leaders, and customer representatives
Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, tools, and/or Linux command line for hands-on data analysis
Ability to develop tools and log parsers to support analysis, including automated analysis reports in a configuration-managed shared toolbox: MATLAB, Bash, Java, Python, etc.
Ability to read and comprehend Java, C++, and/or Fortran code
Experience with DOORS, JIRA, Confluence, or other project management tools
Preferred Qualifications
Prior C2BMC experience
Experience with missile defense battle management, intercept engagements, space domain awareness, and command & control systems
Familiarity with GIT, Linux command line, CI/CD pipelines, sensor tracking, ICDs, spatial coordinate frames, and conversions
Experience developing analysis plans and analyzing extensive data sets using statistical and time series analysis
Solid knowledge of the MS Office suite
Flexibility and willingness to handle unexpected tasks

Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00. The salary range is a general guideline and may vary based on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, and market conditions.
