The 815 Residential and Detox Program fully integrates substance use disorder and mental health services to address the needs of individuals with co-occurring disorders. The SUD Counselor I is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team that supports clients through assessment of needs and strengths, in support of health and recovery. The counselor will perform counseling in individual and group settings, deliver curricula in accordance with program requirements, manage casework, and assist clients in navigating systems of care while providing a supportive treatment environment. Key Responsibilities

Facilitate group counseling sessions, community meetings, and classes on various treatment topics to help clients meet treatment goals. Perform crisis intervention and communicate with the treatment team as unforeseen situations arise. Document all group and individual counseling sessions within 24-72 hours per contract requirements. Meet the residential service delivery goal of 60% as required by the program. Proactively link clients to internal and external resources based on treatment needs. Follow up on the progress or status of clients’ treatment. Document client updates and incidents daily. Maintain safety and security of clients in the facility by performing periodic checks. Ensure client medications are securely stored and properly accounted for; monitor and document administration as needed. Assign client duties and validate completion. Accompany clients to offsite appointments related to treatment as needed. Collaborate with clients and internal/external resources to develop or maintain problem lists and/or treatment plans, transition plans, progress notes, and appropriate updates in support of health and recovery. Complete discharge paperwork and other agency assessments in a timely manner. Support intake processes by preparing rooms and maintaining supplies. Perform property and room searches as needed. Respond to overdose and other medical emergencies. Conduct substance use tests (e.g., urinalysis, breathalyzer) as required. Observe clients at intervals (e.g., every 30 minutes) and document observations per program requirements. Collect, clean, or dispose of biohazard waste; disinfect and clean rooms and common areas as needed. Accurately enter data in electronic systems for all clients in accordance with HealthRIGHT 360 guidelines. Read and respond to emails, calls, and Teams messages promptly. Complete assigned training by due dates; participate in meetings and contribute to team discussions. Plan and facilitate celebrations and special events as appropriate. Work on weekends and holidays as needed. Qualifications

Education, Certification, Licensure

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in health and human services, social work, psychology, or related field preferred. Must be registered as an Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor or as a SUD Counselor with a CA approved certifying agency (CCAPP, CADTP, or CAADE). Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must complete background check and livescan clearance.
