Now Hiring an Experienced Waste Industry Controller The ideal candidate will have waste industry experience and the ability to communicate and work closely with Regional and Corporate Management Operations teams. The Regional Controller will support multiple facilities within an assigned region/territory and carry a broad base of financial management oversight, including general accounting, financial reporting, journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, franchise fee reporting, variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability analysis. The role also functions as a business partner and liaison between Corporate Finance/Accounting and regional business leaders, ensuring the well-being of region businesses.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for helping direct the financial affairs of the region in coordination with regional business leaders, controller, and other corporate leaders.

Manages monthly accounting close, financial reporting, analysis, allocation methodologies, and general accounting activities.

Consults with RVP and managers in business areas that affect financial performance, including costs, pricing, margin analysis, bad debt review, capital expenditure, reporting, and measurement.

Performs timely and insightful analyses (e.g., AR Aging Analysis) and advises management regarding operating results in terms of costs, budgets, trends, variances, profit improvements, and cost reductions.

Analyzes trends and deviations (actual performance vs. budget plan), monitors spending, cash flow, and ROI, and recommends course corrections to enhance profitability as needed.

Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate finance policies & procedures, internal control processes, and established finance reporting requirements.

At regional level, coordinates the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data for periodic and annual financial statements, including preparation of charts/graphs showing progress against results.

Schedules, organizes, and implements the annual budget process; oversees the maintenance of annual operating and capital budgets.

Provides tax, insurance, and other reports required by governmental regulations.

Reviews, develops, analyzes, and interprets financial and budgetary reports and presents them to the management team for review, decision‑making, and action.

Provides accurate accounting and consolidation of regional revenues, expenditures, assets, and inventory.

Actively uses financial/accounting automation tools (e.g., Solomon, Dossier) to prepare, maintain, derive, and share data.

Develops and consolidates short- and long-term operating/capital budgets, business plans, expense forecasting, manpower plans, cost controls, and fixed-asset controls for the region.

Selects, evaluates, and coaches direct reports to ensure dependable and efficient operation of the function.

Ensures integrity of transaction reporting to the general ledger and reconciliation of balance sheets on a monthly basis.

Helps communicate with external auditors on accounting/financial matters and handles audit responses as required to comply with recommendations and related control matters.

Directly handles and/or coordinates activities for a broad range of functions including transaction processing (AR, AP, Payroll), financial reporting, general accounting, fixed assets, tax, LOB statements, risk management, budgeting, financial systems.

Supports regional/divisional sales efforts by providing insightful profitability, proforma, and pricing analyses along with quantitative packaging in support of RFP responses.

Plays an active role in merger/acquisition due diligence, data management, proforma development, and post-closing integration.

Identifies and implements cost reduction and profit improvement strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS, BA, or BBA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

Minimum 10 years progressive accounting/financial management experience.

Minimum 3 years direct finance/accounting experience within the Waste Industry.

Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP.

Ability to manage complex and dynamic situations requiring a well developed sense of strategic and tactical priorities.

High degree of autonomy, yet team oriented with ability to work cross‑functionally within a matrix organization.

Proven analytical, negotiation, and implementation skills.

Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Applied familiarity with financial/accounting/HRIS software packages/systems (e.g., DSL‑Solomon, Dossier, Tower, SAP, Great Plains, PeopleSoft, Ceridian).

Familiarity and use of Crystal reporting, FRx report writing, ERP tools.

Demonstrated uncompromising personal integrity and ethics.

Ability to travel 50% primarily within defined geographic territory.

Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.

Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
