Summary of Job Duties Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance Nutrition, the Sports Nutrition Fellow will assist in the day‑to‑day programming and execution of the University of Arkansas’ Sport Nutrition Department. The position is paid for one year with a possibility of a second year contingent on performance evaluations and mutual approval. The Fellow will oversee the nutritional needs of assigned teams, develop and design educational materials, conduct team presentations, cooking classes, grocery store and dorm cafeteria tours, and collaborate closely with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance Nutrition and the Sports Nutrition Center culinary team. The role includes educating and mentoring undergraduate nutrition employees and volunteers in sports nutrition.
Responsibilities
Conduct individual and team nutrition education and counseling
Coordinate pre‑ and post‑training nutrition
Assist with competition and travel nutrition
Serve as a nutrition and food resource for sport coaches
Develop and deliver educational materials, presentations, and training sessions
Collaborate with culinary teams to monitor and improve nutrition services
Educate and mentor undergraduate nutrition employees and volunteers
Maintain reliable attendance and foster collegial relationships with teammates and staff
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition, or a related area
Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD‑eligible in the state of Arkansas
Work toward CSSD Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in nutrition, exercise science, or other related field
Experience in a collegiate setting, including knowledge of NCAA, SEC, and institutional rules relevant to the position
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of sports nutrition principles and NCAA/SEC regulations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with athletes, coaches, and staff
Organizational skills to manage multiple teams and responsibilities effectively
Ability to counsel student‑athletes and deliver team education sessions
Ability to develop educational materials and coordinate nutrition‑related events
Additional Information Graduate students are subject to background checks.
Salary Information $20.00 per hour
