Enforce laws and ordinances to maintain peace and protect life and property; Patrol assigned sectors for the prevention of crime and investigate suspicious activities; Arrest violators of laws and ordinances; Respond to emergency calls, accidents, and other incidents; Enforces all traffic laws; issues citations and warnings; Investigate and complete reports of collisions, including private property collisions; Serve criminal warrants, and court orders; Conduct investigations of criminal cases and gather, preserve, and analyze facts and evidence; Conduct follow-up investigations of preliminary investigative reports, as needed; Interview complainants, victims, witnesses, and suspects; Prepare detailed reports of incidents and investigations; Testify in criminal court on various matters, including findings of investigations. Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED P.O.S.T. Certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Georgia and in good standing United States Citizen Possess a valid driver license Must be at least 21 years of age Must qualify on the State Qualification Course with assigned firearms Pass a background investigation, psychological examination, drug screen, and oral interview Have no felony convictions Out-of-State Transfers
Applications for Law Enforcement Officers who are certified in another state shall be accepted however, the applicant must complete the Georgia POST requirements and obtain Georgia Certification before any employment is offered. Specialized Opportunities
