Neurona Therapeutics
Neurona Therapeutics is an early-stage biotechnology company based in South San Francisco focused on the development of neuronal cell-based therapies for neurological diseases. Our ideal candidate is a self‑motivated individual who has a passion for scientific research. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small team, work on transformative science, and take part in building an exciting, science‑driven company. As a sequencing Research Associate, you will participate in next‑generation sequencing that will support biomarker discovery, enable deep characterization of existing products, and fuel novel product development.
Responsibilities
Prepare single cell and single nuclei samples for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and other applications
Conduct fluorescence and/or magnetic‑activated cell sorting experiments
Design, plan and execute experiments using single cell RNA sequencing pipeline from sample preparation and capture to NGS sequencing library QC and preparation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and colleagues
Support other Discovery projects involving human neuronal cell culture and cell‑based assays
Analyze data, interpret and present results at team meetings
Help optimize and improve workflow, and streamline processes
Collect, organize, and manage sample inventory
Organize and maintain detailed experimental records in accordance with industry standards
Manage reagent inventory and equipment calibration/maintenance
Required Qualifications
BS or MS degree in Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology or related field
Working knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction)
Experience with single cell NGS sample prep workflow (cell capture using microfluidics, cDNA library preparation, QC and sequencing)
Experience with sterile mammalian cell culture
Great organizational and analytical skills
Willingness to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy and superb attention to detail
Willingness to learn and expand skill set and contribute to emerging needs in a highly dynamic start‑up environment
Ability to multitask while working within fast‑paced timelines
High integrity, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Strong team player and problem‑solver, able to work on teams and independently
Preferred Qualifications
At least 1‑2 years of relevant hands‑on laboratory experience in academia or industry
Experience with NGS library preparation from single cells
Familiarity with DNA/RNA library QC techniques (Tapestation, Bioanalyzer, Qubit, etc.)
Experience with flow cytometry and fluorescence activated and/or magnetic cell sorting (FACS/MACS)
Familiarity with histochemical techniques and basic microscopy
Experience with sterile human stem cell and neuronal cell culture
