Job Title: Transport/Van Driver Location: Wilkes-Barre, PA Department: Administrative FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Administrator Shifts: Part-time, Full-time, Per Diem Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

This is the primary driver for the skilled nursing facility, working with the elderly and rehabilitation patients, primarily pickup and delivery to physicians’ offices and hospitals and dialysis, locally. Be able to work with the severely handicapped and the elderly, managing a route that will accommodate an on-demand schedule. Act as a positive representative of Embassy Healthcare. Work with the community using tact and understanding with nursing personnel as well as the caregivers and family members of the residents served. Secure passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trips. Be physically able to handle and assist the handicapped resident in wheelchairs. Assist disabled passengers into and out of the vehicle. Assist all other departments in deliveries and pick-up of related items (e.g., dentures, x-rays, pharmaceuticals, U.S. mail drop-off). Support medical records department in deliveries and pick-up of medical records and physician orders. All documents maintained within HIPAA guidelines. Communicate with supervisor upon disruption of service. Clean and service vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories. Report all vehicle repairs or unsafe or hazardous situations to supervisor. Be flexible and available for special occasions and special schedules. Display hospitality and customer service with residents, family members, community members, and others during drives. Ability to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Personal and Safety Functions

Perform tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures; follow work assignments and schedules. Cooperate with inter-department and facility personnel to maintain nursing services. Maintain warm, calm, and welcoming atmosphere throughout the unit and shift. Report complaints and grievances of residents; notify facility if late or absent; report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to supervisor. Adhere to safety precautions; store tools and equipment before breaks or end of day; report hazardous conditions and safety violations immediately. Follow smoking regulations; report violations; follow isolation precautions and procedures; wear PPE as required. Wear safety equipment when lifting or moving residents; report missing/illegible labels and MSDSs. Report equipment and supply needs to Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse. Education and Experience

Education: Must possess a certificate for state-tested nursing assistant (STNA). Experience: Must be a licensed STNA according to state laws. Specific Requirements

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must be able to make independent decisions when warranted; deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, and the public; work harmoniously with other personnel. Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents. Must be willing to seek and incorporate new methods into nursing practices. Must relate information concerning a resident’s condition; must not pose a direct threat to others. Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception; ability to adjust focus. Current driver’s license with excellent driving record (no accidents or more than one moving violation in three years). Must be at least 18 years old. Physical and Sensory Requirements

Must be able to move intermittently; speak and write English understandably. Must cope with mental and emotional stress; be able to see and hear or use suitable prosthetics. Must function independently with flexibility and integrity; be able to work with residents, personnel, and support agencies. Must meet general health requirements, including medical and physical examinations. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds; may assist in evacuations during emergencies.
