Overview
Job title: Curator. Location: Alpine, TX. Department: Sul Ross State University – Museum of the Big Bend. Posting End Date: Until filled. Appointment Date: 11/1/23. Salary: $41,727 – $64,265 per year. Education: Bachelor’s degree; a bachelor’s in American history with a concentration in Texas history, museum studies, or a related field is preferred to a master’s degree or Ph.D.

Provide curatorial expertise and oversight within the museum setting.
Engage in exhibitions development, design, and installation processes.
Manage collections, including conservation, provenance research, and documentation.
Collaborate with the museum’s curatorial department on educational programs and artifact interpretation.
Utilize technology and social media to support outreach and public engagement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Three years of curatorial experience.
Knowledge and/or experience relating to collections management and conservation, and artifact provenance research.
Demonstrated experience with exhibition development, design, and installation processes.
Experience in a museum’s curatorial department.
Exceptional written and verbal English communications skills.
Object-based teaching experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheet software, internet software, email, and database software.
Proficient in all aspects of social media including Facebook, Instagram and other media outlets.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a university setting.
Fluent in Spanish.
A record of research/publication.
