Electrical Plans Examiner role at Bureau Veritas North America. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborates with Designers, Engineers, Project Managers, Stakeholders, QA Construction Inspectors and Contractors to ensure efficient and effective compliance with the National Electrical Code, ICC model codes, DFW Airport Design Criteria Manual, code amendments, and FAA regulations through construction document plan reviews and inspections. Performs construction document plan reviews and inspections in the designated electrical code discipline. Ensures Airport facilities comply with FAA regulations and other mandated design standards. Records and documents inspection, plan review, and testing results; issues deficiency reports and monitors remedial work; records re-inspections and retesting results; ensures correction of deficiencies. Keeps abreast of new code changes and materials; provides technical assistance related to code interpretation, conformance, constructability, and quality assurance from design through final inspection. Operates with general supervision and, at times, autonomously with supervisor available for more difficult questions. Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years’ experience in construction inspections and/or construction document plan examination. Active Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Master Electrician License and/or Journeyman Electrician License; ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector Certificate; ICC Electrical Plans Examiner Certificate; ICC Commercial Energy Inspector Certificate; ICC Commercial Energy Plans Examiner Certificate; ICC Commercial Combination Inspector Certificate; ICC Combination Plans Examiner Certificate. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above. Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code; ICC family of model codes; Local, State, and National Codes and Regulations related to major construction development, electrical systems, energy conservation, and building systems. Ability to detect and correct non-complying items during construction document plan reviews and inspections. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain harmonious internal and external working relationships. Special Requirements
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge in accordance with TSA requirements and DFW Airport’s Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for badge renewal. This is a safety sensitive position; candidates will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and may be subject to random drug screening during employment. Desirable
Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and municipal building department permitting software. Experience using Apple iPad and related inspection applications, Blue Beam, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience using Microsoft Teams and Outlook. Efforts
Work in office, mechanical rooms, construction sites and various airport environments; may involve travel between sites. Prolonged sitting and keyboard use; reading prior documents and design drawings. Perform mathematical calculations and problem solving related to code interpretation. Drive to locations on and off airport property; climb ladders; work in sometimes physically demanding conditions; wear PPE and OSHA-compliant clothing.
