Overview
The Automotive Dealership Controller will provide hands-on accounting, leadership, and administrative support while developing and maintaining strong financial reporting controls. This job is 100% onsite / in office.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily accounting operations of the OEM dealership to ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with corporate accounting policies and OEM reporting requirements.
Perform timely month-end closings and submit required OEM financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP.
Prepare, complete and interpret dealer financial statements to management in accordance with GAAP, corporate accounting policies and procedures and OEM reporting requirements.
Maintain effective cash management systems and keep the General Manager, Dealer Principal equity owners and senior leadership informed on accounting trends and cash needs.
Manage and safeguard dealership’s assets and ensure proper financial reporting controls.
Assist dealership leadership in reading and interpreting financial reports and responding to requests for information in a timely manner.
Collaborate with accounting back office teams, sales managers and regional leadership to improve revenue or reduce expenses to meet or exceed budgets.
Ensure compliance with dealership policies and standard operating procedures.
Experience and Qualifications
Must have prior experience as an Automotive Dealership Controller at large platform stores with knowledge and experience preparing new car dealership OEM financial statements and proficiency with mainstream Dealer Management Systems (DMS) Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, Dealertrack, Teckion.
Must have at least 5-10 years of experience as an Automotive Dealership Controller for new car OEM automotive dealerships.
Demonstrated experience in leading accounting teams at high-volume new car OEM automotive dealerships.
Ability to multi-task, work with various levels of management and manage accounting and administrative staff.
Demonstrate hands-on technical accounting knowledge of the automotive dealership industry.
