Job Summary
A national law firm seeks a Litigation Paralegal to join their Fort Lauderdale office. This is a direct-hire role, offering competitive pay, benefits, and a hybrid schedule after 90 days of employment.
Position Summary:
The litigation paralegal collects, analyzes, organizes, and maintains factual information and documents, both electronic and hard copies, in accordance with legal practices and procedures. Duties / Responsibilities: Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss cases or projects and evidence collection. Draft legal documents including motions, affidavits, and discovery requests. Research statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other sources; provide written analysis to attorneys. Handle all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and subpoenas, and organizing documents. Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items. Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including attending trials, hearings, depositions, and mediations. Oversee the organization and maintenance of case files and case management spreadsheets, delegating tasks as needed. Required Skills / Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of legal language, principles, research methods, court pleadings, and processes. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well in a high-paced and stressful environment. Maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and use good judgment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Ability to organize files and workflow. Availability for overtime and travel as needed. Education and Experience: Paralegal Certificate/Degree or five years of litigation paralegal experience. In-depth knowledge of Florida and U.S. District Court laws, procedures, and electronic discovery. Experience with all stages of litigation, including intake, discovery, and trial. Experience coordinating trial/arbitration logistics, including negotiating workspace, setting up remote offices, and coordinating with clients and vendors. Experience maintaining paper and electronic case files. Experience with court and agency filings, including e-filings. Experience with e-discovery databases and litigation support software. Relevant experience within a large law firm is strongly preferred.
