Accounting Analyst (Consultant)

Hybrid - 3 Days a week in Office and 2 days a week, work from home / remote

Overview

Our client, a top tier professional services and management consulting firm headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, NYC, is seeking an Accounting Analyst (Consultant) to join their corporate finance team. The firm provides a full range of accounting, financial management, and advisory services to a diverse client base and is recognized for its commitment to excellence, collaboration, and integrity.

This consulting role will focus heavily on the accounting cycle, including reconciliations, journal entries, close activities, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting principles, thrives in a detail-oriented environment, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced, team-driven culture.

Core Responsibilities

• Support the month-end and quarter-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and ensure all supporting documentation is organized and properly maintained.
• Assist with general ledger maintenance, variance analyses, and reconciliations across key accounts.
• Help prepare financial reports and schedules to support internal management and external audit requirements.
• Contribute to the preparation of year-end materials, including audit support and 1099 documentation.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing accurate and timely information as needed.
• Handle ad hoc accounting projects, reporting requests, and other departmental needs as assigned.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably within a corporate or professional services environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs).
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in work output.
• Strong analytical thinker and proactive problem solver.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
