What you will do
As a Senior Category Manager (Staff Level) on the Supply Chain Team, you will lead procurement and strategic sourcing activities supporting the organization\'s corporate functions (HR, IT, Finance, Business & Marketing, etc.). The role supports the development of category and sourcing strategies aligned with company growth objectives to optimize cost, efficiency, and supplier relationships.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute sourcing strategies and initiatives that improve supplier quality, total cost of ownership, delivery, lead times, risk compliance, ESG, and other identified areas.
Lead all RFx activities (RFI/RFQ/RFP) for critical components and services, including SOPs for selection criteria and cross-functional supplier selection.
Manage contract negotiations (terms, pricing, delivery schedules) to ensure value and protection of the organization\'s interests.
Support Supplier Performance and Relationship Management (SPM/SRM) programs for assigned categories.
Provide internal stakeholders with in-depth category and market insights to enable informed procurement decisions.
Analyze spend data to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk reduction.
Develop negotiation strategies and supplier performance improvement plans; participate in problem resolution and risk analysis.
Assist in designing internal procurement SOPs and policies ensuring financial, legal, and ethical compliance.
Collaborate with internal teams to align project goals, timelines, and procurement activities.
Adhere to workplace health and safety policies and company procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What we need you to bring to the team
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
12+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles (preferably in manufacturing or operations)
Advanced negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to influence diverse audiences
Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking; ability to identify and implement cost optimization opportunities
Deep proficiency in procurement technologies and ERP systems; drive process innovation and operational efficiency
Ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic, fast-paced environments (startup or high-growth settings)
Experience advising on complex matters and leading teams accountable for tactical targets
Understanding of business strategy and organizational objectives; ability to design and optimize models, frameworks, and procedures
Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving; ability to navigate ambiguity
Recognized subject matter expert in category management; ability to mentor peers
Ability to build formal networks and cross-functional partnerships to support strategic projects
Experience leading development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals
Independent judgment in methods and criteria for achieving results; accountability for outcomes
Conveys advanced information and persuades diverse stakeholders; recognized as an internal SME
Compensation
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $130,000-$156,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
