We are seeking a Corporate Vice President of Human Resources to join our client, a leading and rapidly growing homebuilder with 250 employees. This position will provide strategic leadership and oversight of all human resources functions company-wide in support of the organization’s mission and business objectives. The Corporate VP will collaborate closely with the executive team to design, implement, and oversee initiatives, policies, and practices that foster a high-performance culture and align with organizational goals.
Currently, we are only seeking residents in Columbus, OH.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive HR leadership experience, preferably within the homebuilding or related industry, along with a track record of driving results through talent acquisition, organizational development, compensation strategy, and compliance management. Corporate Vice President of Human Resources Responsibilities
Partner with executive leadership to define and implement human resources strategies that align with the company’s mission, vision, and operational priorities.
Lead recruitment and hiring efforts to attract top talent and ensure new hires are well-positioned to advance the organization’s objectives and values.
Advise leadership on staffing levels, department structures, and job responsibilities to maximize efficiency and team performance.
Continuously evaluate and oversee compensation programs, including base pay, commissions, and incentives, ensuring the company remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent.
Collaborate with benefits brokers, advisors, and legal partners to design and administer comprehensive benefits offerings.
Serve as a key member of the administrative committee for the company’s 401(k) plan, overseeing plan communication, administration, and compliance.
Coordinate with Accounting and Payroll to interpret pay policies, resolve issues, and ensure proper application of tax and compensation procedures.
Oversee and administer leave programs, including Family and Medical Leave, short- and long-term disability, and ADA accommodations.
Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations while proactively identifying and mitigating risk across all HR functions.
Partner with leadership and legal counsel to conduct investigations, address workplace issues, and execute corrective actions such as terminations or performance improvement plans.
Develop and oversee the company’s training and professional development initiatives, identifying skill gaps and implementing programs to build future‑ready talent.
Lead the HR department in creating an inclusive, high-performance culture that emphasizes accountability, professional growth, and employee engagement.
Develop and manage the human resources operating budget, ensuring the efficient use of resources in alignment with corporate goals.
Corporate Vice President of Human Resources Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Ten or more years of progressive human resources leadership experience, with homebuilding or real estate industry experience strongly preferred.
Proven success managing broad HR functions across multiple disciplines, including compensation, compliance, talent acquisition, and organizational development.
In-depth understanding of employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated leadership and strategic problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other HR-related tools.
