Supervise manufacturing engineering personnel and activities. Develop, implement and manage manufacturing engineering plans and processes. Leads process improvements. Perform activities to staff, train, motivate and evaluate manufacturing engineering personnel. Responsibilities
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods; utilizing knowledge of product design, fabrication processes, tooling, quality standards and production equipment capabilities. Able to analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workcells for maximum efficiency. Will include design of tooling, lifting devices, fixtures, etc. Projects will increase in complexity. Conscious of cost of materials and budgetary expense. Evaluate safety procedures and reduce hazards throughout the plan. Work with R&D or design groups to go over design review process in new product development. Able to make recommendations on designs for manufacturability. May include approvals for manufacturing improvement. Will utilize ERP with expert knowledge for assigned tasks such as pulling Bill of Materials (BOM) or pulling drawings from product life cycle management (PLM), engineering software tools or internal database. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Approves vendor selections and conducts vendor audit. Meet with internal groups to support manufacturing need. Lead mentoring, training and development of junior level engineers and technicians. Oversee and manage manufacturing engineering team. Strong awareness of manufacturing costs and process improvement. Education/Certifications
Prefer college degree in industrial engineering or related field. Skills & Experience
5+ years experience in a machine shop. Basic understanding of MTM analysis. NC programming experience. Tools/Equipment
Computer, good understanding of machine tool operation, BaaN software, personal computer, machine tools of all kinds. Physical Requirements
Sporadic walking, bending, lifting, assembly of items, some construction and machining. Travel
