Partnering with Engineering & Manufacturing Firms to Build High-Impact Teams in the U.S. As a Site Development Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and delivering civil site solutions for high-voltage substations, switchyards, and related infrastructure across the state of Georgia. Your work will shape the foundation of the energy network — from grading and stormwater control to access roads and environmental compliance.
You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to bring utility-scale projects from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
Develop site layout, grading, drainage, and erosion control plans for transmission facilities
Perform stormwater management calculations and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling
Generate detailed construction drawings, specifications, and material take-offs
Site Evaluation
Conduct site feasibility assessments and field visits to evaluate topography, access, and constructability
Review geotechnical reports and coordinate with survey and soil investigation teams
Project Coordination
Collaborate with internal teams (environmental, permitting, land acquisition, substation, and transmission line design)
Work with permitting agencies to ensure compliance with NPDES, USACE, GDOT, and Georgia EPD regulations
Provide construction support, including field troubleshooting, design clarifications, and punch list resolution
Process Improvement
Assist in maintaining and evolving GTC’s civil design standards and site development guidelines
Support training, QA/QC reviews, and process efficiency initiatives
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
2–5 years of experience in site/civil development
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling tools (e.g. HEC-RAS, Hydraflow, HY-8)
Knowledge of erosion control BMPs and stormwater permitting requirements
Effective communicator with ability to manage priorities across multiple projects
Valid U.S. driver's license (for field site access)
PE license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting substation or transmission infrastructure site development
Exposure to geotechnical investigations and contractor coordination
