Position Summary The Early Head Start Home Visitor provides home-based services to families with children ages birth to three years old. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities in both the home environment and socialization settings. The Home Visitor promotes child and family development by modeling positive behaviors, empowering parents as their children’s first teachers, and connecting families to support services and community resources.
Key Responsibilities Home Visits & Education
Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits with families.
Implement curriculum to support child development in home and group settings.
Facilitate socialization experiences and family group activities.
Conduct screenings and ongoing developmental assessments.
Collaborate with families to establish family development goals and document them in Family Partnership Agreements.
Family Engagement & Support
Encourage and support parental involvement in curriculum planning, program governance, and Early Head Start activities.
Provide education, resources, and referrals related to children’s health, nutrition, and mental well-being.
Offer crisis intervention and case management support when needed.
Serve as liaison between families and community resources, advocating as appropriate.
Assist with transportation resources for families to access community services and activities.
Administration & Documentation
Accurately document home visits, assessments, and family activities.
Maintain confidentiality of family records.
Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Assist with recruitment and enrollment of families.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Gateways Family Specialist Credential Level 5.
Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
Ability to work with families from diverse, low-income backgrounds.
Empathetic, respectful, and professional approach.
Flexibility to work in families’ homes within high-risk communities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong teamwork and relationship-building abilities.
Proficiency with word processing and documentation systems.
Active driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Willingness to travel regularly within the community.
Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks related to home visits.
English proficiency required; bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
Home-based and community settings, with regular travel.
Office work as needed for documentation and meetings.
Moderate noise levels.

Compensation & Benefits Mary Crane Center offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes access to medical, dental, and vision insurance (HMO, PPO, and DPPO options available), paid time off, and other employee wellness programs. Eligibility varies by position and hours worked. Additional benefit details will be provided during the hiring process.
Salary Description $50,000-$54,000.
