BPR Consulting Group
(www.bpr-grp.com) is seeking an experienced and certified Plans Examiner to join our growing company and serve our clients. Full time and part time opportunities are available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities The successful candidates must have experience and success in checking building plans and specifications for compliance with established uniform building codes, zoning regulations and ordinances; coordinating plan checking activities with other departments; and preparing comprehensive plan check reports. A strong and detailed building code knowledge is essential to the success of the selected individuals.
Perform plan checking activities to include examining plans and specifications for compliance with established uniform building codes, zoning regulations, and ordinances.
Provide information to the public, contractors, and architects including the interpretation of construction codes, ordinances, and zoning regulations.
Coordinate plan checking activities with other agency departments; transmit plans and specifications to appropriate departments and divisions; transmit other department comments to applicants as necessary.
Establish and maintain system of log sheets and files to track current status of projects; file approved plans and specifications.
Assist in the operation of the permit counter; provide information to customers; issue building permits; receive plans for review.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Perform all work consistent with BPR’s and Clients policies and procedures.
Provide all services in an efficient, proactive, and client focused manner.

Desired Qualifications
Two (2) plus years as a building plans examiner for a local or state building department or equivalent related experience.
Must possess knowledge of building inspection and construction processes.
Experience in the interpretation and application of building codes.
Advanced knowledge of California Building Codes.
Minimum of at least one ICC certification, preferably ICC Plans Examiner certification
Certification & Compensation Compensation:

$25 - $65 an hour
