Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing both semi-monthly and temporary/student payrolls, as well as providing customer service to all University departments utilizing Mass Time Entry. This position shares responsibility for data entry for off-cycle adjustments and additional data entry into Banner for informational purposes. Additionally, this position assists with Banner and Mass Time Entry testing at the direction of the Payroll Director. Duties also include scheduling Payroll Runs and reviewing Payroll reports. Data Entry
This position shares responsibility for data entry of all off-cycle adjustments, manual checks, and voids. The position posts adjustments in Banner once approval is given by Payroll Director or Assistant Payroll Director. Additionally, this position is responsible for informational data entry keyed into Banner after regular payroll finalizes. Customer Support
This position provides customer support and resolution regarding questions, issues and/or discrepancies related to Mass Time Entry (MTE). This position uses excellent customer service and organizational skills to support MTE users and approvers. Additionally, this position is responsible for sending reminders to users who have un-submitted, unapproved entries or incomplete records in MTE. This position also assists users with setting up accounts & gaining access to MTE, and with establishing proxy approvers, as well as granting users appropriate access to Earning Classes & Earn Codes in MTE when necessary. Payroll Processing
This position is responsible for tasks related to the processing of semi-monthly payroll for Temp and Student (TS) employee and some pre-payroll processes that support both TS and SM payrolls. These processes ensure that standard deductions are set up for all employees, student employees are properly classified for FICA exemption, all MTE records are loaded into Payroll and duplicate entries are identified, researched, and corrected as necessary. This position runs edit and exception reports throughout the payroll process to ensure accuracy of payroll records. Additionally, this position is responsible for the upkeep of the Banner payroll calendar and annual calendars that reflect due dates for MTE and Kronos submissions and approvals. This position is also responsible for completing calculations related to correction of over-payments and for processing payments related to dual employment with other state agencies. System and Process Development
This position is responsible for planning, carrying out, and documenting results of testing for upgrades to the Banner Finance, Student and/or HR modules. This position performs MTE testing as needed. Additional Duties
