About The Role

Axcelis Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network & Cybersecurity Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. This critical role blends advanced network administration with cybersecurity expertise to monitor, design, implement, and protect our enterprise infrastructure. The position is instrumental in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our network environment—spanning architecture, operations, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimize network performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, Wireless, VPN, Data Center).
  • Configure and troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and OT network devices.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  • Oversee network hardware/software upgrades and lifecycle management.
  • Identify and mitigate network security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Administer firewalls (Fortinet preferred), NAC, SIEM, and VPN solutions.
  • Monitor network traffic and logs for anomalies and threats.
  • Lead incident response efforts: investigation, containment, recovery, and forensics.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and best practices in alignment with industry frameworks (NIST, CMMC, ISO 27001).
  • Stay current on emerging threats and recommend proactive defenses.
  • Participate in audits and provide evidence for network‑related controls.
  • Collaborate closely with Systems, Applications, and DevOps teams to ensure secure integration of new technologies and services.
  • Mentor junior administrators and serve as a subject‑matter expert.
  • Lead strategic planning and technical discussions for network and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in network administration with a strong focus on cybersecurity.
  • Expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and management.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, 802.1X, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and other network protocols.
  • Hands‑on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (NIST CSF, CMMC) and threat vectors.
  • Experience with SIEM, EDR, and incident response processes.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (Aruba/HPE, CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, CompTIA).
  • Experience with cloud networking and security in Azure.
  • Experience with Fortinet firewalls, IDS/IPS, Aruba Airwave, ClearPass, and endpoint security platforms.

U.S. Base Salary Range

$90,742.40 – $136,113.60 (base salary).
