Summary
The FJD's Adult Probation and Parole Department is hiring for the Clerk Typist I to perform routine typing, data entry and clerical work. Previous training or experience in typing and Data Entry is required. An important aspect of the work is the operation of office equipment including telephones, personal computers, facsimiles, and copiers.

Essential Functions

The following duties are considered typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. **
Types forms, letters, memoranda, reports, materials from copy or rough draft, and transcribes from dictating machines/foot pedal utilizing a personal computer.
Sorts and prioritizes typing according to due date.
Computes data for use in statistical reports or other records.
Receives and guides visitors to proper destination.
Receives, screens and routes telephone calls.
Dispenses standard department information.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Answers telephone and may greet the public.
Performs related work as required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Standard office conditions.
Direct contact with diverse court clientele.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of personal computers and applicable software.
Ability to effectively communicate the English language both orally and in writing.
Ability to make basic arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy.
Ability to operate standard office equipment such as the telephone, scanner, copier, printer, and fax machine.
Ability to learn court regulations regarding departmental operations and clerical procedures.
Ability to type data or enter information with accuracy.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to deal with people in a professional and efficient manner.

Qualifications: Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Some experience in an office environment is preferred.
Experience using personal computers.
Experience in typing and transcribing information from an audio recording.
Experience using dictation machines, including foot pedals, to transcribe information.
After meeting minimum standards, successful completion of a panel review and interview process.
Successful completion of criminal background check.
Ability to perform the essential functions of a position in this class.
Covid-19 vaccination is recommended.
Must work on site (not remote).

Salary Range: $31,529 - $33,590
