The
Stationary Engineer 1st Class
Operates, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots Steam, Chiller Plant and HVAC equipment. Through the use of a computerized management system, controls temperatures and regulates the HVAC system to assure patient and staff comfort at all times. The position requires a thorough understanding of Steam Boiler, Chiller and HVAC plant equipment design and operating principles; to safely, reliably and efficiently produce and distribute the utilities of Steam and Chilled Water. This position also monitors, tunes and troubleshoots the consumption of these utilities by the Hospital's distributed HVAC equipment, such that the various Hospital spaces are properly conditioned. Accuracy is essential. Occasionally supervises work direction or instruction of other employees. Supervision provided directly by the Chief Engineer and Director of Plant Operations. Hours : Full time (40 hours) Day Shift, Weekdays Location : Howard County General Hospital 5755 Cedar Lane Columbia, MD 21044 Requirements/Qualifications : A State of Maryland Stationary Engineers License is required High school, trade or vocational school graduate, or equivalent. At least three (3) years' experience in boiler room or related area. Ability to operate engines and machinery necessary to heat and air-condition the hospital. Ability to read and follow instruction in operations manual. Must have a working knowledge of computerized Building Management Systems. Our competitive
