We're seeking a skilled Fiber Splicing Technician to support high-volume fiber optic installation and testing projects in a large-scale data center environment in Abilene, TX. This role involves splicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber infrastructure with a strong focus on safety, precision, and performance. What You'll Do
Perform fiber splicing for aerial, underground, and in-building cable routes
Read and interpret construction prints, splice matrixes, and drawings
Safely perform mid-sheath cable entry using proper tools
Execute single and ribbon splices, including large cable count numbering
Conduct OTDR and power meter testing to validate fiber performance
Install and maintain splice enclosures and perform cable relocations
Troubleshoot issues and process test results to ensure quality delivery
Respond to emergency outages with urgency and professionalism
Communicate effectively with internal peers and external stakeholders
Maintain full understanding of safety risks and adhere to all safety standards
Participate in training, documentation, and process improvement initiatives
What You Bring
3+ years of cable installation and/or fiber splicing experience
OSHA 10 certification (required before start date); OSHA 30 preferred
Man lift and CPR certification (required before start date)
Valid driver's license; DOT medical card required or ability to obtain
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to travel and work long hours in a fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of fiber ribbon splicing and mass fusion splicing in data centers
Nice to Have
Experience prepping, splicing, and testing 6912-count cables
Familiarity with Smart Sheets, Excel trackers, and project documentation
Safety-centric mindset and leadership potential
Ability to train and mentor other technicians

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $40.00/hr.
