Job Summary The Division of Administration/Office of Technology Services (OTS) has a vacancy in the Data Center Operations Section (REQ 213716). This role is responsible for day‑to‑day administration and maintenance of the virtual server infrastructure, including installation, maintenance, and modification of vendor‑supplied software for critical business functions. The position may require after‑hours scheduling, technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and collaboration with other OTS technical staff.

Responsibilities

Administer and maintain virtual server infrastructure for OTS.

Coordinate installation, maintenance, and modification of vendor‑supplied software and related products.

Perform technical troubleshooting, problem resolution, and root cause analysis for incidents.

Collaborate with OTS technical staff to resolve associated problems.

Recommend and implement standards, policies, and procedures for the OTS virtual environment.

Provide guidance and documentation to end‑users, administrators, and technical support personnel.

Assist in migration and provisioning of all virtual server environments.

Monitor and update procedures, documentation, and change‑management logs per OTS policies.

Mentor lower‑level team members and facilitate knowledge transfer and training.

Perform all other tasks as directed.

Qualifications

Two years of experience in information technology; OR

Six years of full‑time work experience in any field; OR

An associate’s degree in information technology; OR

A bachelor’s degree.

Experience Substitution:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university is credited as one year of experience toward the six‑year requirement. Maximum substitution is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any area.

Note:

A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

All college hours or degrees must be from an accredited college or university.

Position‑Specific Details Appointment Type:

The vacancy will be filled by a new hire or by promotion of a current permanent status classified employee.

Career Progression:

The vacancy participates in a career progression group and may be filled from this recruitment as an IT Statewide Associate Engineer 1, 2, 3, or 4, depending on level of experience.

Compensation:

Depends on the qualifications of the selected applicant.
