is recruiting for a

Safety Data Program Specialist . This job includes providing critical support to MDT’s Safety Program including the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). Work includes data management to maintain MDT’s crash database with the Safety Information Management System (AASHTOWare). This includes working with several software programs, multiple groups within MDT and the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP). This position is the Section lead Arc Map user and AASHTOWare Safety administrator. Work also includes training staff on safety related software.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience)

The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in Drafting, Programming or related fields. Four (4) years related experience may substitute for a related degree.

This position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience using ArcGIS.

Certifications, licensure, or other credentials include: GIS Certification preferred.

Alternative qualifications include: Any combination of additional related work experience and education equivalent to the minimum qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Behaviors)

Knowledge of engineering principles used in road design such as terminology, drafting symbols and abbreviation is preferred.

Knowledge of developing queries to quality control related data elements and being able to extract data effectively from the database.

Knowledge of PL/SQL, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Products and Adobe.

Ability to learn new programs that are specific to this Section, i.e., AASHTOWare Safety (MDT crash database) and SmartCad (Montana Department of Justice SmartCop).

Other Information The successful candidate must pass a fingerprint-based background investigation as a condition of employment. Driver’s record will be verified.
