Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge and help with the selection of merchandise. Respond to customer concerns promptly with a sense of importance and provide outstanding customer service in assisting patrons with goods or substitute items. Responsible for overall operations of the sale department. May order merchandise, receive, price and monitor stock levels. In conjunction with store management may handle price changes, markdowns, promotional sets and signage. May communicate directly with HQ staff to resolve special order requests for customers or merchandise issues at store level. Assist store management in training employees on cash register and front-end duties; provide input on employee evaluations. Operate a cash register, accept cash, personal checks, credit cards, etc. Prepare, verify and issue change funds as required. Collect cash receipts, cash register tapes, checks, credit card receipts, and other supporting documentation. Compare register tapes with Daily Activity Reports and investigate discrepancies. Prepare and maintain cash overage and shortage records for each sales cashier daily. Ensure control and security of change funds, safe and cash registers. Open/close the store as required and may direct/supervise other employees in the absence of management. Follow all policies regarding Loss Prevention and be proactive regarding shrink and the Alert Line. Follow all established safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements. Will be required to work weekends. Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Prior retail experience in inventory control and retail sales. Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods. Preferred (in addition to the minimum): Experience operating a cash register and working knowledge of sales inventory. Previous retail supervisory experience in the performance of the above duties. Current USCG NAF sales clerk with at least 6 months experience as a USCG NAF sales clerk. BENEFITS
