Position Summary The Project Coordinator (Quality & Inspection) is responsible for coordinating and overseeing quality projects related to inspection processes, First Article Inspections (FAIs), and customer deliverables. This role supports the setup, scheduling, and execution of all shop floor inspection activities while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements.

The Project Coordinator reviews and approves inspection routings, verifies AS9102 reports, and ensures the proper use of measurement tools and techniques for mechanical components. Serving as a key liaison between operations, customers, and the inspection team, this role drives efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across quality processes.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and approve inspection routings and Dimensional Inspection Plans (DIPs) for assigned projects.

Review mechanical drawings and GD&T to define proper inspection and measurement strategies.

Specify and validate appropriate measurement tools and gauges for mechanical feature inspection.

Review and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) reports in accordance with AS9102 standards.

Support the training and development of Quality Inspectors, ensuring adherence to Standardized Work Instructions.

Serve as a customer-facing liaison, managing documentation, communication, and quality deliverables.

Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific quality systems.

Participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA) to validate process adherence and quality consistency.

Coordinate and document nonconforming material, corrective actions, and scrap analysis.

Interface with operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth material and data flow.

Support continuous improvement and project management initiatives related to inspection efficiency and process quality.

Qualifications Required:

U.S. Citizenship (required to obtain Top Secret Security Clearance).

Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision machining environments.

2+ years of experience in manufacturing or quality-related functions.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T.

Experience with FAI reviews and AS9102 documentation.

Demonstrated supervisory experience (minimum 4 direct reports or equivalent leadership).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and LPA auditing processes.

Some college coursework or training in manufacturing, quality, or industrial technology (Engineering degree not required).

Working Conditions

Shift time is 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Be available for local travel.

Work in a paced manufacturing and inspection environment.

Stand for extended periods; moderate lifting may be required.

Exposure to non-hazardous chemicals and noise requiring hearing and eye protection.

Electrical and equipment safety awareness required.
