THE ROLE AT A GLANCE Our client, a global marketing firm is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to join its growing finance team in Los Angeles, CA. With operations spanning more than 30 offices worldwide and annual revenue exceeding $500 million, this organization partners with some of the most recognizable brands, athletes, and artists in the world.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. The Senior Payroll Analyst will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of payroll operations across the US and Canada. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and enjoys problem‑solving in complex, multi‑jurisdictional environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES End‑to‑End Payroll Management
Lead the full‑cycle payroll process for U.S. and Canadian employees, ensuring accurate and timely execution of multi‑state and multi‑entity payrolls.
Oversee new hire onboarding, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, and deductions while maintaining strict data integrity.
Reconcile payroll accounts, review journal entries, and resolve discrepancies between payroll and the general ledger.
Payroll Taxation & Compliance
Manage all aspects of payroll tax administration, including jurisdiction account setup, monthly filings, and resolution of agency notices.
Track and respond to tax agency correspondence through ADP, maintaining accurate records of notice cycles and resolutions.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations, as well as cross‑border requirements for Canada.
Systems & Integrations
Serve as a key contributor in payroll system implementations and integrations—especially for newly acquired entities.
Partner with HRIS and IT teams to test and deploy new payroll system features (Workday or ADP highly preferred).
Develop and automate payroll reporting dashboards and audit processes to increase visibility and accuracy.
Audit, Reporting & Analysis
Conduct internal and external payroll audits, prepare reconciliations, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Create and distribute regular payroll, tax, and benefit deduction reports for leadership and finance teams.
Analyze payroll trends and present insights to support data‑informed decision‑making.
Employee & Cross‑Functional Support
Act as an escalation point for complex employee inquiries, delivering clear and empathetic communication.
Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Legal teams to support payroll‑related initiatives and compliance efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of end‑to‑end payroll experience with a strong background in payroll tax and payroll processing.
U.S. multi‑state payroll experience required.
Experience in payroll tax filings, tracking agency notices and jurisdiction account set‑up.
Experience reconciling payroll accounts and auditing payroll.
Experience leading payroll integrations for new acquisitions preferred.
Proficient using ADP and/or Workday.
Bachelor's Degree required.
