Your Specific Responsibilities This position is a highly independent and professional role located on the Strategic Planning Services (SPS) team within the Division Director’s Office. As a Strategy Coordinator within the Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA), you are responsible for planning, delivering, tracking, and reporting on strategic activities to ensure MQA teams meet regulatory efficiency and public protection goals efficiently and effectively. This position will also contribute to statewide initiatives for health care applicants, practitioners, and consumers and promote information-sharing throughout MQA by participating in workgroups, recording best practices, and developing communication and training material.

MQA regulates health care practitioners and facilities through professional licensure, facility permitting, and administrative enforcement to preserve the public’s safety. The ideal candidate will have a project management approach, excellent communication and analytical skills, and the ability to toggle between big picture ideas, grounded work, and administrative responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, monitor, and report on project work plans, coordinate complex cross‑functional activities, and administer surveys.

Document processes and establish appropriate procedures, protocols, and tools (e.g., SOPs, inventory and quality checklists, process maps, templates, worksheets, and other references).

Evaluate, make recommendations, standardize, and improve licensure, enforcement, and information processes and procedures using best practices such as Rapid Process Improvement or Lean Six Sigma.

Organize multidisciplinary workgroup meetings, host trainings and workshops, and prepare associated materials (e.g., draft invitations, confirm attendance, reserve conference spaces, operate audiovisual equipment, order supplies, distribute materials, record and delegate tasks, collect evaluations, distribute minutes, and monitor completion of action steps).

Develop and maintain an intake request process to capture incoming project requests, define scope, gather requirements, and streamline the prioritization, notification, and approval process.

Create and maintain an MQA centralized calendar by serving as a SharePoint administrator.

Develop and maintain monthly initiative reporting, including quarterly and annual strategic performance database reporting.

Research industry trends and write executive briefs as needed.

Support quality improvement, communications, and change management activities as needed.

Support legislative coordination activities as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Understanding of strategic planning principles, business administration techniques, total quality improvement, and/or project management.

Proficiency in planning, executing, and overseeing projects to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey approaches, present plans, and collaborate with stakeholders.

Ability to identify problems, synthesize information to inform decisions, generate solutions, and make sound decisions.

Understanding of the dynamics of cross‑functional teams.

Ability to adapt to change while maintaining focus on objectives and envisioning the bigger picture.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and activities in a fast‑paced regulatory environment.

Ability to work collaboratively and influence others positively.

Skilled in public speaking, data gathering, and interpretation.

Qualifications Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:

2 years of experience in strategy, business development, project management, or a related field.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, marketing, sociology, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Educational experience may be substituted with certifications or coursework in project management, Lean Six Sigma, total quality improvement, or strategic planning.
