Position Overview Inova is seeking dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographers to join the team. We offer PRN, part‑time, and full‑time positions across multiple sites. Full‑time roles are eligible for a sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with patients to obtain maternal‑fetal history and informed consent, and assist physicians in optimizing examination performance and interpretation.

Explain procedures to patients/families, answer questions to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.

Assist physicians in performing CVS, amniocentesis, and image optimization studies using departmental protocols.

Demonstrate knowledge of sterile techniques and isolation precautions for specialty procedures.

Recognize emergent or clinical problems in maternal‑fetal patients, taking appropriate action to resolve them and improve outcomes.

Maintain thorough knowledge of maternal‑fetal ultrasound principles, fetal anatomy, pathology, and physiology.

Optimize image quality while ensuring patient comfort and safety during examination.

Use critical thinking to enhance procedures with additional modalities and views based on identified disease processes.

Accurately measure fetal structures, document findings, and prepare preliminary reports for physician interpretation.

Track and label films/files accurately, correcting errors promptly.

Minimum Qualifications

Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start; successful completion of the Inova Nuchal Translucency (NT) Program within 6 months for those without NT certification.

Licensure:

None required.

Experience:

Two years of hospital or doctor's office‑based experience in specialized maternal‑fetal sonography detecting fetal anomalies.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; degree from an accredited sonography training program.

Preferred Qualifications

MFM experience.
