Limon Correctional Facility. The eligibility list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies at this location. This Correctional Support Trades Supervisor II (CSTS II) is a Food Service Lieutenant for the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC), at the Limon Correctional Facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ensuring the safety and security of the general public, staff and inmates; ensuring efficient and effective food service operations and supervising staff and inmates. Position promotes the CDOC policies, mission, and vision. Position exemplifies a professional workforce that embodies honesty, integrity and cooperation, creating work opportunities and developing inmate skills in preparation for community reentry. Safety and Supervision

Safety and security of the facility and work sites; trains and guides staff and inmates in the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment and chemicals; enforces security procedures; monitors workplace environment and inmate behavior; initiates verbal reprimands when warranted and, if necessary, physically controls inmates with the proper application of restraints or use of force techniques; monitors, supervises and escorts inmates according to facility policy; performs inmate counts and transportation; responds to emergency situations according to agency policy; promotes a safe and secure environment. Supervision includes providing safety and security through the supervision of assigned staff and inmate workers; trains and instructs staff and inmates in the use of tools, equipment and procedures; stresses safe practices and the use of PPE; demonstrates honesty, integrity and ethical behavior. Staff Supervision and Inmate Supervision include participating in hiring, preparing performance plans and evaluations, training, resolving grievances, assigning tasks, and ensuring training; ensuring inmate workers are trained in food service operations; managing inmate evaluations, hours and pay, schedules and tasks; reducing idleness and preparing inmates for community reentry. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Comprehensive understanding of CDOC Performance Management Program (PMP) policy Ability to create a cohesive team while mentoring and motivating assigned staff Self motivation Tactful and diplomatic interpersonal skills and decision making Ability to delegate effectively Excellent time management and communication skills Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions Maintain safety and security of facility and work sites Ability to train staff and inmates in the appropriate use of tools, equipment and procedures Ensure timely completion of prep, post-production, sanitation duties and organized shift changes Ensure safe, secure, compliant, and cost effective food service operations Ensure accurate meal service, inventory maintenance, and required documentation Participate in hiring and use PMP for staff evaluations Coach and mentor staff regarding agency policy and processes Handle verbal reprimands and, if necessary, use of force techniques Resolve conflicts and informal grievances at the lowest level Position may require additional hours and/or coverage for a custody control post. Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years of employment experience in food preparation and/or cooking OR a combination: three (3) years in food preparation and/or cooking plus correctional experience for a total of at least five (5) years. Correctional experience must be security-related duties involving inmate movement, contraband prevention, emergencies, key/tool/chemical/equipment control, and guidance in matters related to work and behavior for community re-entry. OR a combination: three (3) years in food preparation and/or cooking plus hospitality experience for a total of at least five (5) years. Hospitality defined as food and beverage, lodging and travel/tourism. Substitutions:

Completion of an accredited related educational degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Transcripts should be attached if substitutions are used. Required Competencies

One year or more of supervisory duties in food service or correctional kitchen Comprehensive inmate supervision and training through oversight of food service Sergeants Experience as a chef in a high-volume setting Important Information
