Role Description Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage professionals with advanced expertise in Statistics. As an
AI Tutor – Statistics Specialist , you will play a pivotal role in training next-generation AI systems to reason accurately about statistical concepts, methodologies, and data analysis. This is a full-time opportunity for experts who are passionate about advancing statistical reasoning within cutting-edge AI technologies.
Collaborate closely with technical and research teams to develop and refine data annotation frameworks
Design challenging statistical problems
Provide detailed, high-quality feedback that enhances model understanding
Shape how advanced AI systems engage with complex statistical reasoning—from probability theory and inferential methods to Bayesian modeling and experimental design
Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Statistics, or Mathematics with a strong focus on probability or applied statistics
Exceptional command of English, both written and verbal
Proven ability to analyze complex data and apply sound statistical judgment
Strong research and reasoning skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently while managing evolving and complex instructions
Deep curiosity about AI, data-driven technologies, and the role of statistical methods in intelligent systems
Requirements
Use proprietary software to annotate and evaluate statistical data, equations, and model outputs
Design and select challenging statistical problems in areas such as probability theory, regression modeling, stochastic processes, and Bayesian inference
Collaborate with technical teams to refine annotation tools and workflows for higher accuracy and efficiency
