Figma’s Legal Team is looking for a Director to build and lead our product counseling function at an exciting time for our growing business. This is an opportunity for a business-minded lawyer who is deeply curious about AI and eager to impact an early-stage Legal Team’s growth. The role involves setting the bar for excellence and managing a small team of lawyers, defining a strategy for our Product Counseling function to be a competitive advantage, and collaborating with business teams. You will report to the Legal VP of Product, Privacy, Marketing and IP. This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. Responsibilities
Be integrated with product managers, designers, researchers, analysts, engineers, and others to help them solve problems and achieve business objectives while minimizing risk Provide advice, strategic vision, and legal direction to a wide variety of teams from the initial stages of project development to launch Serve as liaison between product teams and leaders of other legal functions across corporate, commercial, international, IP, and privacy Build a best-in-class function by hiring well, setting high expectations with your own IC work, and providing strong management to ensure Senior Product Counsel are set up for success Ensure we provide deeply practical and tailored advice while also finding ways to scale our legal advice Qualifications
10+ years of legal practice experience, with at least 5+ years specializing in a product counsel role in-house 4+ years of management experience J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) Membership in at least 1 U.S. State Bar, with good standing Ability to translate sophisticated legal concepts into practical and actionable advice for a non-legal audience Preferred
Familiarity with global product launches in SaaS environments Pay Transparency and Compensation
At Figma, we provide pay ranges and equity, with details below. This role’s base salary range is disclosed for roles based in San Francisco or New York hubs. Compensation is decided based on qualifications, market demands, and location. For remote roles, the pay range is localized by location. Please discuss your work location with your recruiter for more information. Annual Base Salary Range (SF/NY Hub):
$281,000—$365,000 USD Figma offers equity and a competitive benefits package, including health, dental & vision, retirement with company contribution, parental leave, mental health & wellness benefits, PTO, learning & development stipend, work-from-home stipend, cell phone reimbursement, sales incentive pay for most sales roles, and an annual bonus plan for eligible non-sales roles.
