Pay Range
The City and County of Honolulu provides the following base pay ranges. Actual pay will be based on skills and experience. Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) – Storm Water Quality Division : $6,528 to $7,317 per month, commensurate with applicable experience. Honolulu Board of Water Supply : entry salary rate of $6,528 per month. Position Overview
The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Storm Water Quality Division, is recruiting for two (2) Civil Engineer III positions located at Kapolei Hale. Additionally, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply is hiring two (2) Civil Engineer III positions: one in the Capital Projects Division, Design & Plans Review Branch, Design Section, and one in the Water Resources Division, Long‑Range Planning Branch. Responsibilities
Professional engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program. Planning, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping. Participation in periodic and temporary cross‑training and supplementary work exercises to support other branches within the division and comply with the City's storm water permit obligations. Minimum Qualification Requirements
Education Requirement
Graduation from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty. For degrees earned outside the United States, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. Experience Requirement
Two (2) years of non‑registered professional civil engineering experience, demonstrating: Civil engineering principles and practices; engineering mathematics; engineering mechanics and mechanics of materials; hydraulic, structural, mechanical, electrical and sanitary engineering principles applicable to civil engineering. Such experience must also demonstrate the ability to: Perform civil engineering design work or supervise construction and inspection activities; analyze stresses and determine required foundations and structural features; supervise a small group of subordinate professional or subprofessional employees; and prepare engineering and inspection reports. Substitution
A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from a regionally accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required non‑registered professional civil engineering experience. License Requirement
