Position Description Ohlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part‑time teaching assignments, including day, evening, and weekend courses in person, online, or hybrid. Postings are continuous recruitments; as‑needed. Applications remain in the pool for two years.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach Psychology in accordance with post‑secondary course outlines.
Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to course content and learning outcomes, providing timely feedback.
Maintain and submit accurate records: grades, syllabi, attendance reports.
Create an equity‑based and welcoming classroom environment.
Perform duties described in Board policy, faculty bargaining unit contacts, Faculty Handbook, and those assigned at the Fremont Campus, Newark Center, online via eCampus, or other designated locations.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Psychology; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology + Master’s in Counseling, Sociology, Statistics, Neuroscience, or Social Work; OR equivalent.
Commitment to community college goals of being an equity‑based, anti‑racist institution, providing quality programs for culturally, socio‑economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students.
Evidence of responsiveness to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications
Teaching experience at the community college level desired but not required.
Experience using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement and learning.
History of creating socially conscious syllabi, equitable classroom materials and inclusive pedagogical practices.
Experience addressing equity issues; work with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other minoritized students; willingness to examine and remediate relational practices to engage racially minoritized students.
Experience with computer technology teaching tools, including course management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
