Certified Veterinary Technician

to join our dynamic team. The clinic is a small animal, 14‑DVM practice located at 4345 France Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55410. We are a AAHA‑accredited hospital that values high skill in surgical/dental procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.

Hospital Hours

Monday – Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Sunday: Closed

Compensation & Benefits $28‑$30 per hour plus a $1,000 sign‑on bonus.

Job Summary The

Certified Veterinary Technician

provides leadership and training to the medical support staff, performs medical care within the scope of veterinary practice act, and ensures detailed documentation and client communication.

Responsibilities

Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.

Maintain clear and accurate medical, client, and case records.

Review records, treatment estimates, and discharge instructions with clients; respond to basic animal care inquiries.

Guide and support medical support staff to ensure efficient shift operations and workflow.

Mentor team members for career growth and personal development.

Provide input for performance evaluations.

Assist with client services: appointment scheduling, payments, check‑in, and phone communication.

Contribute to training programs; participate in job shadows and sessions.

Perform assigned cleaning, upkeep, and equipment maintenance tasks.

Respond to client inquiries confidently about routine procedures and animal care.

Perform other related duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an AVMA‑accredited Veterinary Technician program.

Current state veterinary technician license in good standing.

One year of veterinary industry experience preferred.

Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental care, and nursing.

Ability to administer SQ, IM, and IV injections.

Knowledge of common veterinary medications, dosages, side effects, and client communication.

Understanding of anesthesia and patient recovery monitoring.

Calm and efficient in stressful or fast‑paced environments.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Comfort handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.

Lift and move up to 50 pounds independently; up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Work in noisy environments and on hard surfaces for extended periods.

Exposed to animals that may bite or scratch.

Occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and controlled substances.

Adequate hearing and vision for instruction and client communication.

Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Travel Less than 10 % of time required.
