Position Summary As part of the Product and Analytical Sciences group, the energetic and self‑motivated Sr. Scientist will serve as both a functional program leader or technical lead and as an independent contributor bench scientist to achieve program, platform, and functional objectives. The incumbent may also serve as liaison between the Product Sciences sub‑function and Clinical routine testing groups, CMC, Analytical Strategy, Informatics and/or Translational research teams. Scientifically, the incumbent will lead or co‑lead the design, execution and interpretation of complex experiments/studies related to the development of new/enhanced knowledge regarding CAR T cell products, intermediates, starting materials, and clinical or manufacturing‑related investigations within a CMC technical development function.
Duties/Responsibilities
Lead or co‑lead technical development and execution of sensitive bioanalytical assays to characterize cell products, intermediates and starting material for internal and external collaborations and deliverables.
Contribute to the development of biological hypotheses relating to product cellular attributes and their impact on clinical outcomes, manufacturing and development of analytical tools.
Develop and execute complex routine and exploratory characterization assays relating to clinical and manufacturing investigations.
Contribute to informatics‑based correlation studies supporting identification of critical product attributes.
Support CMC objectives by providing biological and technical knowledge across program and platform strategies for product, process, and analytical development.
Efficiently organize data and share findings within and across functional teams.
Develop programmatic exploratory bench workstreams in the context of product biological understanding using multiomic technologies (e.g., nanostring, O‑link, spectral cytometry, Seahorse, etc.).
Mentor, support and empower the development of junior scientists in both technical and strategic elements of cell therapy product development.
Ensure proper operation and perform routine maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
Maintain a safe workplace in accordance with company and OSHA policies/procedures.
Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in Immunology, Cell/Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences or related with 7+ years academic and/or industrial experience. At least 3 years of industry experience in a cell therapy matrix environment.
Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell/Molecular Biology, Biomedical sciences, or related discipline with 5 years of academic and/or industrial experience, preferably in cell therapy development with proven history of productivity via scientific/technical abstract or article publications.
Demonstrated leading potential at a functional programmatic level or as a SME Technical Senior level.
Experience with analytical method development for a variety of cell‑based bioassays, binding assays and/or residual impurities assays.
Advanced knowledge of basic techniques in immunology, cell biology and molecular biology. Experience with FACS (A5, Lyric, Attune cytometers), immunofluorescence‑based assays (Incucyte/Imagestream), Luminex, PCR and ddPCR, cytokine and chemokine detection (ELLA/MSD platforms), cell‑based bioassays.
Powerful desire to work within a team structure and to develop, mentor and coach team members.
Ability to work under minimal technical supervision, perform technical, strategic, and operational tasks independently and lead complex and cross‑functional activities.
Multiomics experience is desirable but not required.
Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques, including isolation of immune cell subsets, maintenance and expansion of primary cells and cell lines.
Presentation of data internally and across functions.
High motivation and drive to acquire new skills and knowledge.
Willingness to work in a regulated industrial environment.
Compensation Overview Warren – NJ – US: $112,900 – $136,805. The starting compensation range(s) listed above are for a full‑time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. Final, individual compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience.
