Senior Heavy Equipment Operator - CDL
The City of Waco is seeking a skilled and dedicated operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating various heavy machinery and will provide strong leadership, safety focus, precision, and reliability to ensure smooth operations.
Minimum Starting Salary:
$25,000 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED equivalent
Two years experience in heavy equipment operations in all types of road maintenance
Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License required at interview; Tanker endorsement required within 180 days of employment
Specialized training and licensing upon hire required
Position Description Under general supervision, leads a field crew operating specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment within the Streets Division of the Public Works Department to support street, roadway, and infrastructure maintenance.
Essential Functions
Coordinates crew activities for repairing and maintaining streets, roadways, and infrastructure; estimates materials; stages equipment; assigns work; operates specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment.
Inspects vehicles, equipment, and tools; performs repairs, maintenance, and adjustments; logs daily work; trains crew; enforces safety regulations; establishes work zones and ensures compliance with all safety regulations and PWD procedures.
Provides courteous and cooperative service to the public and City staff, maintaining confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, for emergencies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
