Diesel Technician – Permanent Full Time – Mid Level

Overview This role supports Ryder’s truck fleet by performing maintenance and repair on heavy‑duty vehicles. You will work a second shift schedule (Mon‑Fri 12:30 – 21:00, Sat 6:30 – 15:30) with one day off during the week.
Salary & Benefits
Hourly pay: $27.68 per hour
Sign‑on bonus: $3,000
Certification bonus: up to $700 for each new ASE certification obtained
Quarterly bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)

Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Carry out standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
Perform preventive maintenance
Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers as applicable
Identify root causes of failures and conduct required repairs
Replace defective components as instructed
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints when assigned a task
Use shop management system and electronic documentation
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or technical certification (post‑secondary degree or technical certifications) preferred
Basic tools required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
Ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
